What’s North Kansai?

Here, North-Kansai is where beautiful nature from season to season can be enjoyed.

Various flowers starting with Sakura get in full bloom in spring, get a beautiful sight of clear blue sea of Japan in summer, fall foliage change their color fiery red in autumn and fantastical sea of clouds spread.
In winter, snow covers the ground and makes the world white.

North-Kansai is located close to Osaka and Kyoto.
It’s possible to get to most-visited tourist attractions such as Amanohashidate and Kinosaki Onsen in 2hours 30min to 2hrs 50min.

TambaArea

Tamba area is a trove of Tamba brand famous throughout Japan such as Matsutake, Maron, and Black bean. Various Tamba brand sweets are famous so that you can taste ones throughout the area.

Tamba pottery of Sasayama city is one of The six ancient kilns in Japan.
Simple and classical shape and color are its characteristic.
Daily pottery such as dish, pot, vase and the like are mainstream and also you can experience the making pottery.

In addition, since Tamba is a strategic spot in Sengoku period, there are still historical castle, buildings and temple remaining.
There are also lots of scenic spots for Koyo(Autumn leaves). In autumn, mountains change their color to red beautifully and its superb view attracts visitors.

TajimaArea

Starting with Kinosaki onsen in Toyooka and Yumura onsen at Shin onsen town, here is famous for onsen. Especially, the scenery of Sotoyu meguri (visito open-air baths) wearing Yukata at Kinosaki onsen is full of atmosphere. Visitors got to experience it.

Tajima surrounded by mountains and sea is attractive area for various outdoor sports such as trekking, skiing, sea bathing and camping through a year. Tajima beef, the special local product and crab the king of winter gourmet cannot be missed.

Sarasoba the specialty dish at Izushi called little Kyoto, is fully recommended to come by and taste once. Tajima is the very spot with full of relaxing and healing.

Additionally, towns dotted around this area are also historical and cultural spots.
Takeda castle ruins in Asago city are such a rare and complete remains and listed in natinal historic sites.

TangoArea

Tango area has a lot of magnificent view of nature including Amanohashidate from the Japan three view and Sanin Kaigan Global Geopark.

Amanohashidate is not only a spot to enjoy the beautiful view but also an historical area to feel that Amanohashidate is the very important place of Japanese creation myth. Tango area is full of historical and cultural sceneries which cannot be missed: Japanese archetypal landscape of Ineura boat houses.

Chirimen street which reflects the prosperity by fabric in those days. Maizuru port which developed as a naval port. Maizuru red brick warehouses.
In addition, fresh seafood such as snow crab, Winter Yellowtail, Tango egg cockle and onsen can be enjoyed.

WakasajiArea

Wakasaji is the western area of Fukui prefecture. Close to Kyoto, the international city, here is located in the northwest of Lake Biwa of Shiga prefecture.
Facing to the sea of Japan and surrounded by mountains, Wakasaji blessed with a rich natural environment, has been sending seafood, salt and various ingredients to cities and supporting food culture of cities.

After Heian period, here became the entrance to communicate the culture from the continent divided by sea and the Korean Peninsula to cities in Japan so that here is deeply linked with cities of Kyoto and Nara.

Wakasaji is such an attractive area since its rich nature, communion with the continent and cities, human, history of cultural exchange, and food culture grown in unique ways.
